It also must be the correct distance from the wall – measurement to the centerline of the flange should be 12″ (30.5 cm). It should be flush with the surface of the floor.

Install the mounting bolts into the side slots with bolt heads down and threaded shanks pointing up. Next, put the wax ring in place, centered on top of the flange, and push it down into place.

Straddle the bowl then lift it into place and set it straight down on the ring and bolts. Push down evenly to seal it onto the wax ring, then make sure it’s perpendicular to the wall.

Place rubber gasket onto the locknut and feed the SmartFasten™ bolts through each hole on the bottom of the tank. Place the tank in position on the bowl by aligning the SmartFasten bolts with the bowl mounting holes. Thread wing nylon nuts by hand until as finger tight as possible, then use 7/16″ wrench until tank is snug against sanitary bars.

Be careful not to overtighten. Once you have a seal tight connection between gasket and bowl, connect water, fill tank and ensure it’s watertight. If not, give each bolt 1/4 turns until drip stops.

The additional weight of the tank may call for another careful tightening of the floor flange nuts. The supply line attaches to inlet of fill valve – if using enclosed couple nut, hand tighten ONLY. Finish the job by snapping bolt cap covers onto retain plates. Nice work.
